Data from online obituary for Evelyn Inga (Jernander) Dunnum in the La Crosse Tribune, La Crosse, Wisconsin, U.S.A. April 19, 2013.

Evelyn Inga Dunnum, 102, formerly of Cashton, died peacefully Monday, April 15, 2013, at Bethany Riverside, La Crosse.
She was born Feb. 15, 1911, in Chaseburg, to Charles and Josephine (Opsahl) Jernander. She married Lawrence A. Dunnum May 25, 1929, and together they farmed in Portland, Wis.

Evelyn was a woman of many talents. She not only helped with the farming and raised a family, but one of her greatest talents was her musical ability. She entertained many throughout her life playing the piano and mandolin at church gatherings when she was young, and playing at nursing homes and other events in the Cashton area when she was older.
She was a great seamstress, sewing many of her families’ wedding apparel, prom dresses, quilts and general clothing. Evelyn was also involved in Homemakers, Ladies Aid and 4-H Club. Whenever someone visited Evelyn at her home you were guaranteed to be handed a deck of cards, a great cup of coffee, and a lunch that no one could turn down. But the thing that will stick in everyone’s memory is the feeling you left with after visiting her. Her contagious smile welcomed those who walked through her door and warmed the hearts of all who had the pleasure of loving her.

She is survived by two daughters, Elaine (Dick) Bronson of Manitowoc, Wis., Kathy (Dick) Mannstedt of Onalaska; and a daughter-in-law, Joyce Dunnum of Owatonna, Minn. She is further survived by 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter and son-in-law, Marion and James Newburg; son, James N. Dunnum; three sisters; and four brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Cashton. The Rev. Gary Daines will officiate. Burial will follow in the Moen Cemetery. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the church. The Torkelson Funeral Home of Cashton, is assisting the family with arrangements. Evelyn’s family would like to thank the staff at Bethany Riverside for the compassion and respect that they showed Evelyn during her stay at their facility.
