Barfoot, Walter “Bubba” Leonard, Sr., of Chesterfield, passed away March 1, 2019, at the age of 87. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Jordan; and their daughter, Frances. He is survived by his son, Walter, Jr.; his daughter, Donna Bonner and her husband, Kevin; his grandchildren, Rachel Bonner and Brian Bonner (Ashlee); great-granddaughter, Emma Bonner; and many nieces and nephews. Bubba was born and raised on Oregon Hill in Richmond, and graduated from John Marshall High School. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War, where he was wounded in combat and received the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Plumbers & Steamfitters Local #10 for over 60 years. He loved spending time with his family at the river and will be remembered for his witty sense of humor and easygoing manner. The family would like to thank the staff at Lucy Corr Assisted Living for taking such good care of him and also Heartland Hospice Care. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at Bliley’s-Chippenham, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where a funeral ceremony will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, March 7, with procession to Riverview Cemetery.
