(1913 - 2005)

Evelyn W. (Kolar) Meyer, age 91, a resident of North Ridge Medical & Rehabilitation Center, Manitowoc, died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005, at the Center.

She was born May 11, 1913, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Clement and Louise Diegel Wegforth. On Aug. 21, 1937, she married Frank Kolar in Iron Mountain, Mich. He preceded her in death in 1987. She then married Raymond J. Meyer on June 29. 1990 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death in 1992. Evelyn was a member of the Manitowoc Senior Center and the Wisconsin Maritime Museum. She was a leader of the Homemaker Social Club. She served on the Manitowoc Committee on Aging, Executive Committee Board advisors and several other committees.

Survivors include a step-daughter: Vivian Lenehan, Massachusetts; one sister-in-law: Shirley Wegforth, Manitowoc; four nephews: Roger Wegforth, Thomas (Laurie) Wegforth, William Wegforth, Elroy (Diane) Schenian; and a niece: Susan (Jason) Koch, all of Manitowoc. She is also survived by her good friends: John and Jennie McNellis; her loyal friend: Peg Gill, who was always there for her. Thank you Peg for all the things you did for Evie. Other relatives and friends also survive. She was also preceded in death by a sister: Dorothy Sweeney; and a brother: William C. Wegforth.

The family will greet relatives and friends at The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, from 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005, until the time of service at 3 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday. Feb. 16, 2005, at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be Deacon Robert Drobka with entombment at Knollwood Memorial Park & Chapel Mausoleum, Highway 310, Manitowoc.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Evelyn's name to the USS Cobia or the Manitowoc Senior Center.

The family would also like to thank the following people: Carol and Linda who helped Evie in her home, the entire staff of North Ridge Medical & Rehabilitation Center for the excellent care they gave Evie during her stay at the center. A special you to Becky Gates, LPN, Alice Vesely, CNA, and all the nurses and nursing assistants who work the 200 unit. You provide loving, compassionate care to those that cannot care for themselves.
