VAN EDWARD WHITAKER, 73, of 3776 Northwood Drive, former owner and consultant to Allied Manufacturing, Inc., died at 3:15 p.m. yesterday at Methodist Hospital. Services will be at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow at Treadwell-Norris Funeral Chapel, with burial in Memorial Park. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Helen Patton Whitaker; three sons, Van Edward Whitaker Jr of Memphis, James Patton Whitaker of Germantown, and Thomas Lawler Whitaker of Baltimore; three sisters, Mrs. Evelyn W. Clark and Mrs. Alfred Mason, both of Memphis, and Mrs. Treston Holden of Baton Rouge; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. (Published in The Commercial Appeal 6-9-1977.)
