Shirley Abbitt, a loving and devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Mimi and most important a Christian woman who loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was born on September 30, 1935 and went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday March 17, 2019.

Shirley retired from First Baptist Benton after being a day care director for over 25 years. The majority of which was spent with the families of First Baptist Bossier then those at First Baptist Benton. She believed “We can teach children many things in life, but the greatest thing we can teach them is the love of Jesus Christ.” She was dearly loved by all that knew her and will be deeply missed by many.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Maston and Ada Harper Brown; husband Dennison Abbitt; daughter, Sheryl Denise Abbitt; grandson, Christian Wayne Flowers and three brothers and one sister.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda and husband Ray Flowers of Bossier City, LA and grandson, Dennis and wife Nicole Flowers of Haughton, LA; granddaughter, Sheryl and husband Phillip Strozier of Bossier City, LA; three great grandchildren, Matthew and Zachery Strozier of Bossier City, LA and Madison Flowers of Haughton, LA; brother, Jerry and wife Gloria Brown of Bossier City, LA and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at Hillcrest Funeral Home at 2:00 pm with Brother Robert Beadle and Wayne Craig officiating. Visitation will be held at 1:00 pm, prior to the service. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Flowers, Phillip Strozier, Matthew Strozier, Zachery Strozier, George Brooks and Shawn McCallon.
