Rev. Hawkins Rites Planned
Rev. Leo Hawkins,presiding elder of the New Orleans District,Louisiana Conference A.M.E. Church,died Sunday at 4:10 p.m. at Hood Memorial Hospital in Amite.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Turner Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church,Greensburg. Interment will follow in the Turner Chapel Cemetery. The Friendly Service Funeral Home of Denham Springs is in charge.
Survivors include his widow Mrs. Clara Muse Hawkins of Kentwood; two sons, Sgt. Leo Hawkins Jr. of Homestead,Fla. and Clarence Hawkins of Bastrop; one step-son,Rory Muse and two step-daughters,Shywanda Muse and Melody Muse; three brothers, Tommy Hawkins and Albert Hawkins all of Meridian, and John Hawkins of New Orleans;three sisters,Mrs. Eva Walker,Mrs. Sally Reeves,and Mrs. Mary Hinton all of Meridian; and four grandchildren.
