George Washington Boggs, born June 20, 1796 went to college at Amherst, then Seminary at Princeton. He was ordained in Charleston, and after marrying his stepfather's niece, they became missionaries near Bombay, India, embarking on the Black Warrior from Salem, Massachusetts. They wrote their home congregations about their happy life tthere but three of their children, as well as his wife fell victim "to the climate." After the deaths of their children they went home, but his wife never recovered and the resumption of their missionary laborers were never realized.
