The son of Christian & Sarah (Ruely) Page, in 1860 he was a laborer living with his family in West Hanover Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. He married Sarah Jane Allen, fourteen years his junior, and fathered John J. (b. 01/15/62), Daniel (b. @1867), William (b. @1868), and Katie (b. @1879).

A Civil War veteran, he was drafted at the stated age of thirty in Dauphin County October 29, 1862, mustered into federal service at Harrisburg November 20 as a private with Co. E, 177th Pennsylvania Infantry (aka "Drafted Militia"), and honorably discharged with his company August 5, 1863.

Cause of his death is listed as a "paralytic stroke [leading to] heart failure."
