ABATE, ALFRED Alfred Abate of Branford, formerly of Bethany, died July 19, 2015 in Connecticut Hospice. He is the husband of Anna Grillo Abate. Alfred was born in New Haven July 8, 1928, a son of the late Louis Peter and Elizabeth Grimaldi Abate, was an Army Veteran and served proudly during the Korean War. He was a service technician at Lubin Business Interiors (BKM) for many years before retiring in 1994 and was a member of the Citadel Club. Father of Carol (Stanley) Jepson, Nancy (Michael) Cordone, Elaine (John) Ardito and Ralph (Cynthia) Abate. Grandfather of Melissa Springer, Elizabeth Fleming, Louis, Lydia and Anna Abate, Michael and Gino Cordone, and Nikko and Jamie Ardito. Brother of the late Marie Kimball and Louis Abate. Funeral from the IOVANNE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 11 Wooster Place Wednesday morning at 10:30. Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of The Assumption Church (Center Road) at 11. Entombment with Military Honors in St. Lawrence Mausoleum. Visiting hours will be Wednesday morning from 9 to 10:30. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Connecticut Hospice 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405 or to the Alzheimer’s Association 2075 Silas Deane Highway, Suite 100, Rocky Hill CT 06067.
