He was born March 6, 1920 in the Town of Meeme to Martha (Zimmerman) Hemb and the late William Hemb. Mr. Hemb served with the U.S. Army in the 10th Mountain Division from June 1, 1944 until his discharge on April 12, 1946.
On Aug. 16, 1952 he married the former Barbara Piontek in Green Bay. She preceded him in death March 1, 1976.
Mr. Hemb had been employed by Pauly Cheese Co. as an assistant foreman until his retirement in 1983. He was also employed part-time by the Brown Co. Sheriffs Dept. as a Deputy. He was a member of the Wisconsin Sheriffs and Deputy Sheriffs Association, the Brown Co. Civil Defense Auxiliary Police, and the Wrightstown Police Dept. Mr. Hemb was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 2113 and Atonement Lutheran Church.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Carol Hemb, and Jeffery and Kari Hemb, all of Green Bay; two grandchildren, Erin and Jeffrey Hemb; his mother, Martha Hemb, Appleton; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Vera Tesnow, Appleton; Caroline and Wilbur Goeke, Cleveland, Wis.; one brother and sister-in-law, William and Jeanne Hemb, Milwaukee; nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, then at Atonement Lutheran Church from 10 a.m. Thursday until the time of service. Funeral 11 a.m. Thursday at the church with the Rev. Roald Harswick officiating. Burial in Nicolet Memorial Gardens.
