His gravestone has sunk so deeply into the ground that his death date is unreadable but, per address to Jefferson County Historical Society, Oct. 17, 1946 by Dr. Andy Hall, he died Sep. 1857.

I would like to add some additional information as I am his great great grandson.
Stinson Anderson migrated from Gallatin Tennessee to Jefferson County Illinois with his mother and siblings in 1826. In 1832 he was with the Illinois Militia in the Blackhawk War, fought at the Battle of Kellogs Grove. The day after the battle Abraham Lincoln's Company arrived and helped bury the dead on the battle field.
In 1832 he was elected to the State Legislature of Illinois
In 1836 Stinson joined the US Army's 2nd Dragoons Cavalry and went to Florida in the 2nd Seminole War. Upon his return to Illinois he was elected Lieutenant Governor . After his term he served as warden of the Illinois State Prison at Alton. He was also the US Marshal for the Northern District of Illinois
He had 3 sons:
William Black Anderson, Edward Anderson and Dewitt Anderson and 3 daughters:
Sarah, Martha and Nebraska Anderson.
Also he was married to Candace Wilbanks. Her sons from her first marriage were Quincy Adams Wilbanks, John Wilbanks and Luke Wilbanks
