Martin taught school in Jackson County, West Virginia for 35 years. After he retired Martin and Ada operated a gasoline station and limited grocery store called Archer's Esso at the intersection of Route 21 and Turkey Fork Road in Jackson County, West Virginia. The station was a meeting place and often a friendly game of checkers was in progress.

Martin H. Archer, 66, Odaville, Jackson County, died yesterday evening at his home.

He was a retired school teacher and merchant.

Born Aug. 4, 1896, in Jackson county, he was a son of the late Michael and Sarah Robinson Archer.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Ada Rardin Archer; a daughter, Mrs. Ethel Kittle, Sandyville; and Calvin M. Archer, Haverhill, Mass.; two sisters, Mrs. Mary ????????????? Bessie Rardon, Spencer.

Six grandchildren also survive.

The body was removed to the Chambes funeral home in Ravenswood. Arrangements were incomplete last night.
