Mrs. Caroline Hartlich, age 76, of Two Rivers, died Monday, July 29, 2002 at the Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002 at the Salvation Army Chapel, 415 N. Sixth St., Manitowoc. Major Harry Litherland will officiate with burial of her cremated remains at Knollwood Memorial Gardens.

Caroline was born Aug. 21, 1925 in Two Rivers, daughter of the late Carl and Helen Reinke Fanslau. She grew up in Two Rivers and attended local schools. On Jan. 1, 1949 she was married to Carl Hartlich at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Two Rivers. Caroline worked for the Mirro Aluminum Co. until 1970. In 1970 the couple began managing the Vets Club in Two Rivers until 1976. In 1984, Carl and Caroline moved to Lakewood, Wis., returning to Two Rivers in 1993. On April 21, 1995 Carl preceded Caroline in death. Caroline was a member of the Salvation Army, VFW Post #1248 Auxiliary of Two Rivers, Two Rivers Senior Citizens and also played in the Kitchen Band at the Senior Center. Caroline was a very active volunteer for the Salvation Army including their annual bell ringing at Christmas.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law: Wayne (Gail) Hartlich of Rising Sun, Ind.; Rudi (Fay) Hartlich of Two Rivers; one daughter and son-in-law: Trish (Keith) Schwahert of Two Rivers; three grandchildren: Shelley Boyle of Los Angeles, Calif.; Tara Schwahert of Two Rivers and her special friend: Craig Lichternman; Karen Schwahert of Two Rivers; two step-grandchildren: Heather Prickett of Whitefish Bay, and her special friend: Dave Bolyard; Tige (Becky) Prickett of Milwaukee; one great-granddaughter: Natasha Schwahert; two sisters and one brother-in-law: Delores (Del) Hetue of Madison; Katie Borusky of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two sisters-in-law: Angie (George) Smith of Ewen, Mich.; Helen Fanslau of Lakewood; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive. She was preceded in death by three brothers: Raymond, Herman and Dalton Fanslau.

Relatives and friends may call at the Salvation Army Chapel on Saturday at the time of services.

The Jens Family Funeral Home and Crematory of Manitowoc is serving the family.
