Retired contractor. Walter Lane, 79, of West Wolf Valley Road, Clinton, died Sunday at Briarcliff Health Care Center in Oak Ridge.He was a member of Greenway Missionary Baptist Church. Before retiring, he was a carpenter.
Mr. Lane was the son of Lorene Lane of Clinton and the late Arthur Lane. A twin brother, Willie Lane, died in infancy. Three other brothers, James, Elmer, and Charlie Lane, and sisters, Charlcie Bardill and Lelia Maude Lane, also preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Liddie Early Lane of Clinton; daughters, Mrs. David (Wanda) Light, Lorene Elliott and Dorothy Giles, all of Clinton; nine grandchildren, Debra Beets, Donna Cardwell, Darlene Bunch, Sherry Terry, Jerry Giles, Beth Elliott, Shawna Thornton, Charles Elliott Jr., Danielle Light; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Paul lane and Jay Lane, both of Clinton; sisters, Daisy Keith of Santa Fe Springs, CA; Mrs. Joe (Dixie) Godfrey of Hacienda Heights, CA; Roxy Sims, and Mrs. Kenneth (Lucille) Bearden of Knoxville; Alice Webber of Andersonville; Mrs. Hubert (Dorothy) Bryant of Clinton; several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Tuesday night at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Danny Light officiating. Burial was Wednesday at Tennessee Valley Memory Gardens.
