LOVADA (BECKETT) FITZPATRICK
Lovada Beckett Fitzpatrick, 81, of Carroll, Ohio, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at home surrounded by her family.
The second of eleven children born to Thomas D. and Brookie (Dillon) Beckett, she was born August 11, 1937 in Peach Creek, West Virginia. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Kyle Brigner; a great-granddaughter, Kenley Hayes; brothers, Charles Curtis and Ralph Allen Beckett; sister, Roxie Cox; as well as brothers-in-law, Ralph Damron, Melvin Cox, and James D. Sanders.
Lovada was of the Baptist faith. She loved making handmade quilts, canning, gardening and making big dinners for everyone. She was always proud of her heritage as a "coal miner's daughter" and enjoyed sharing memories of her childhood with her family. She was a homemaker and after her children grew older, she enjoyed working as a cook at Bloom-Carroll schools for 16 years. Lovada loved everyone but especially her family. She loved talking with everyone that she met.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Terrell (Nanette) Fitzpatrick, of Baltimore, Ohio; Darrell (Katrina) Fitzpatrick, of Canal Winchester, Ohio, and Scott (Taryn) Fitzpatrick, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; 4 daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl (Gary) Hayes, of Carroll, Ohio, Sandra (Mark) Gundelfinger, of Grove City, Ohio, Shelah Brigner (Lloyd Coleman), of Carroll, Ohio, and Christina (B.W.) Baumgardner, of Lancaster, Ohio. She also leaves behind 15 grandchildren, Chad (Kimberly) Brigner, Eric (Amanda) Hayes, Benjamin Fitzpatrick, Mark (Erica) Gundelfinger, Shane (Randi) Hayes, Courtney (Josh) Stines, Derek Brigner, Chelsea Vancuren, Kaitlin Fitzpatrick, Ryan Brigner, Troy (Ashley) Gundelfinger, Zachary Fitzpatrick, Kayla Baumgardner, Ethan Baumgardner, and Jane Fitzpatrick; 12 great-grandchildren, Kylene Brigner, Caleb Brigner, Madison Hayes, Landon Hayes, Owen Fitzpatrick, Daisy Stines, Karaline Brigner, Carson Fitzpatrick, Ruby Stines, Alden Hayes, Rowan Hayes, and Olivia Hayes.
Also surviving are 3 brothers, Thomas Jr. (Patsy) Beckett, Johnny (Mary) Beckett, and Roy (Kathy) Beckett, all of Dunlow, West Virginia; 4 sisters, Dora Damron, of Dunlow, West Virginia, Betty (John) Reed, of Inez, Kentucky, Reva (Jeff) Wallace, of Lavalette, West Virginia, and Karen Bowen, of Proctorville, Ohio; and a sister-in-law, Fonda Beckett, of Buffalo, West Viriginia.
Family and friends may visit 4-7:00pm on Friday, May 24, at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 650 W. Waterloo St. Canal Winchester, Ohio 43110 with a funeral service officiated by Brad Seevers to follow at 7:00pm. Family and friends may visit 11-1:00pm on Saturday, May 25 at JOHNSON TILLER FUNERAL HOME, 10030 Route 152 Wayne, West Virginia 25570 with a funeral service officiated by Elder Roger Maynard and Elder Tommy Damron to follow at 1:00pm. Burial will follow in the Beckett Family Cemetery, Route 152, Dunlow, West Virginia.
