He created comic images of familiar social types of his day in a full range of ridiculously pretentious characters. The absurdities of fashion, the perils of love, political machinations and royal intrigue were the subjects of his illustrations. Much of his work is in art museum sites and image archives worldwide. He died at age 69 in London, England.
