Lena Margaret Beakler was born Feb. 15, 1934 to Earle and Annie (Roberts) Watt, in Smithdale, Miss.
The oldest of seven children, at an early age she was taught about the love of God and accepted him as her savior.
She was raised in North Eastern Wyoming on cattle ranches. She loved to ride horses and help with round ups. After graduating from teacher’s college, she taught primary age grade school children in a two-room schoolhouse in Wyoming.
In 1958, she married Roy Beakler of Russell, Iowa. In 1960, they welcomed daughter Roilene LaVonne and in 1962 Holly Deanne. In 1966, they moved to Globe. Margaret was very active in the Church of the Nazarene in Globe throughout her life by teaching Sunday school and being on several boards and committees.
After her daughters left home, she went back to school and got her teaching certificate and became a substitute teacher in San Carlos and Globe.
After Roy retired, they moved to Willcox and became active in the Nazarene church there, helping out where they could and teaching.
Margaret moved back to the Globe to be close to her children, Roilene and Mike Measeles, after Roy went to heaven. Again, she got involved and helping with what she could with the Nazarene Church.
She assisted with a missionary outreach to the children and families of San Carlos until her retirement.
In 2016, she moved to Umatilla, Ore. to be with her children Holly and Kevin Hodges. On Sept. 9, 2017 God called her home to be with him.
Her children Roilene and Mike Measeles, of Globe, and Holly and Kevin Hodges, of Umatilla, Ore., two brothers, seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, survive her.
Those who wish to can make contributions to the Globe Church of the Nazarene, 226 N. Holly Road, Globe, AZ.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017 at Bulman Miles Funeral Services in Globe. Interment will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 16 at Sunset Cemetery in Willcox.
