Mrs. Georgia Potter, 81, Pioneer,
Passed Away Friday, Feb 5 (1943)
Funeral services, conducted by Rev. J. Perry King, were held at the McCullough Chapel Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock for Mrs. Georgia Ann Potter, 81, who passed away in a Dallas hospital Friday afternoon. Mrs. Potter suffered a fall at her home here and was taken to a Dallas hospital on Jan. 16, and her death resulted from the injuries she sustained in the fall, including a broken hip. / A native of Weatherford, where she was born on Aug. 9, 1861, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Johnson, who came to Texas from Kentucky. Mrs. Potter became a resident of Mesquite on her marriage to the late Marion Potter, some 55 years ago. Mr. Potter died in 1937 in the house he built for his bride fifty years earlier. / Surviving Mrs. Potter are two sons and two daughters, Earl Potter of Hillsboro and Virgil Potter of Dallas; Mrs. Elsie Haynes of Dallas; and Mrs. Ora Soules of Mesquite. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren; a brother, Joe Johnson of Littlefield, and a sister, Mrs. Lou Cross of Megargel. / Mrs. Potter had been a member of the Baptist Church for approximately half a century. She was a devout Christian and enjoyed a high standing in the community. / Pallbearers were Luther Allumbaugh, Will Potter, Charles Potter, Clarence Foote and Jasper Dahn. Interment was in the Pleasant Mound cemetery.
