The 98-year life journey of Lydia (Rohrig) Heitz began in Wisenmiller, Siberia, Russia on May 11, 1909.

Immigrating to the United States, Lydia was proud of her new heritage as an American and when she was old enough, she went through the naturalization process of becoming a U.S. citizen. Lydia also was very proud of her heritage as a born-again Christian and on the morning of June 19, 2007 she became a citizen of her longed-for home in Heaven.

Married to John Alexander Heitz, the couple celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary before John passed away in 1984.

Lydia enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, she made crochet and knit works of art, and she enjoyed spending time with her family. The children, grandchildren and great grandchildren of Lydia all have wonderful and treasured memories of times spent with their "Momma" and "Grammy". Lydia was a member of the Farmington First Assembly of God Church.

Strength and honor were her clothing; and today she is rejoicing because her time came. She opened her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue was the law of kindness. She looked well to the ways of her household, and did not eat the bread of idleness. Her children (and grandchildren and great grandchildren) arise up and call her blessed and her husband praised her. She was a virtuous woman whose price was far above rubies. (Proverbs 31)
Lydia's surviving family includes sister Christina Haas, of Grand Junction, Colorado; daughters Gloria (Emmitt) Curtis, of Farmington, Dorothy (Samuel) McDougall, of Bloomfield; grandchildren Randall Curtis, of Farmington, Richard (Jeanne) Magor, of Farmington, Audrey (Melvin) Ross, of Bath, New York, Reverend Janelle (Matthew) Sassano, of Canisteo, New York and Melanie (David) Hesseldenz, of Stevenson Ranch, California; great grandchildren Kent (Rachel) Ross, of Grand Junction, Colorado, Scott (Juanita) Ros,s of Fruita, Colorado, Bud Ross, of Portland, Oregon, Melody Magor, of Farmington, Matthew Sassano, of Canisteo, New York, Christopher and Nicholas Ross, of Moab, Utah, Emily Magor, of Farmington, and DiAnza Sassano, of Canisteo, New York and Alexa Hesseldenz, of Stevenson Ranch, California; great, great grandchildren Jacob and Allison Ross and Noah Martin as well as nieces and nephews of her eight siblings.
