Shirley Mae Champeau, 86, of Menominee, Mich., passed away on Friday, June 14, 2019, in Green Bay. She was born Sept. 4, 1932, in Marinette, Wis., to the late Frank and Ethel (Peterson) Walters.

Shirley graduated from Marinette High School in 1950.

She married Clifford Champeau on July 25, 1953, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Menominee, MI.
In addition to caring for her own children, she also babysat several other children. As her children grew, she worked as a cook at various area restaurants. She enjoyed camping, knitting, cooking and bingo.

Shirley is survived by two sons: Terry (Kari) of Menominee, MI and Mike (LeaAnn) of Alton, Va.;
three daughters: Cheryl (John) LaCombe of Marinette, WI; Wendy (Dan) Michalik and Brenda Champeau both of Menominee, MI;
10 grandchildren: Jason (Jennifer) LaCombe and their children Mackenzie, Madisyn and Alexander, Kim (Justin) Wozniak and their children Braden and Masen, Ali Champeau (Fiancé Chris), Mindy (Ben) Benson and their children Adelyn and Cole, Ben LaCombe (Fiancé Courtney), Meghan Champeau (Vogel), Anissa (Shane) Achterberg and their son Ivan Terry and one due in August, Cody LaCombe, Katie (John) Mercer and their children Mya, Addison, Megan and Kaylee, Jenny (Denita Arens) Hubbard;
many nieces, nephews, in-laws; and special friend, Rose Hoffman.

In addition to her husband, Clifford, she was preceded in death by five brothers: Robert, Leonard, Frank Jr., Kenneth and Roger; and two sisters: Doris Walters and Lucille Harris.

Visitation will be held at Thielen Funeral Home Marinette on Monday, June 17, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m., with Pastor Mark Laatsch officiating.
