NOTES: George Fridley, who lived at the foot of the Massanutten Mountains of Virginia in the late 1700's was eulogized in a song that was written by The Buzzard Rock Bayou Boys of Harrisonburg, Virginia. George Fridley built his home in the Massanutten Mountains. It is possible to make out the foundation of the house although the house is no longer there but the chimney still stands. The chimney is on private property. It is in the backwoods on Airey Lane. The person to contact is Mike Williams 540-269-2035.

The Fridley Family of Alleghany County, Virginia traces its ancestors to Switzerland and the Palatine region of Germany. The first recorded Fridley in Alleghany County was John Jacob Fridley, the son of George Fridley and Margaret Armentrout of Augusta County. John Jacob was the great grandson of Ludwig Friedle from Germany and the grandson of Ludwig and Margaret Fridley of Augusta County.DEED: In 1753 he patented 100 acres on Craig's Creek. In 1765 Henry Long conveys to George Fridley for 20 pds 120 acres between Picked Mountain and Shenandore River, part of 2500 acre patent to Henry Long in 1760. In 1767 George lived and was processioned along with men of Alleghany Co.
DEED: 20 Dec 1753 George Fridley had 100 acres patented as supra on Craig's Creek. Then on 18 Mar 1765 Henry Long sold George Fridley 120 acres between Peaked Mountain and Shenandoah River, a part of 250 acres patented to Long in 1760.

DEED: 1815 Isaac Fridley, Caty and her husband Adam Losh, Barbara and her husband David Bolton, Charles Fridley and his wife Peggy and George Fridley and his wife Margaret sold their undivided 5/11 share of 138 acres of land on Smith Creek in 1815 to George Haga for $1000 which descended to them by the death of their father George Fridley who died intestate. This land was bought by George Fridley from John Armentrout on April 23, 1779 for 100 acres and by patent on March 24, 1796 for 39 acres. Burnt Deed Book 00 p. 405 date Nov. 11, 1815.
