GEORGE ARNOLD SR. IS REPORTED TO HAVE COME TO FAIRFIELD COUNTY, OHIO IN 1801. TOGETHER WITH CONRAD AND JACOB ARNOLD, HE SETTLED ON FETTERS RUN, IN PLEASANT TOWNSHIP WHERE HE WAS ONE OF THE FIRST SETTLERS. IT IS SAID HE BUILT THE FIRST GRISTMILL, A LOG BUILDING ON FETTERS RUN.
FOUR OF GEORGES DAUGHTERS,(SARAH, ELIZABETH, MARY AND CATHERINE)TOGETHER WITH THEIR HUSBANDS WERE AMONG THE FOUNDING MEMBERS OF THE METHODIST CHURCH IN LANCASTER IN 1812.
