John S. Capehart –
John S. Capehart was born in Belmont County, Ohio, October 3rd A.D. 1839.
He was married to Mary E. Satchel December 13th 1860. He enlisted in the 28th Iowa Voluntary Infantry in the fall of 1861. He was discharged on account of disability February 28th 1863 and has never been well since this date. He was a very quiet sufferer.
There was born to Mr. & Mrs. Capehart one daughter Emma R., wife of David McAninch. Mr. Capehart died August 24th A.D. 1910 in the 71st year of his life. He was of a quiet unassuming disposition. He was an industrious upright man. He united with the M. E. Church of Brooklyn under the pastorate of the Rev. B. A. Carmine, something more than twenty years ago. He is survived by his wife who is in her 73rd year; Mrs. McAninch, their only child; two sisters Mrs. Mary Evans and Elizabeth James, both of Thornburg, Iowa and two brothers George of Guthrie Center and Lewis of Tilton.
The funeral was held at the M. E. Church August 27th at 3:30 p.m. – I. N. Busby
