Julia "Phyllis" Mary Woollcombe was the daughter of George Penrose Woolcombe and his wife Julia E. Acres.
Phyllis married Dr. George Wakely Abbott-Smith son of George Abbott-Smith and his wife Grace Wilmot Bancroft, on June 24, 1925 in Ottawa, Ontario.

Phyllis was widowed in 1930, and left to raise her two young boys Kenneth and John. Her husband George Wakely Abbott-Smith was born in Montreal, Quebec on April 30, 1897 and died on May 7, 1930.
Phyllis and her two sons went to England in 1933 with her father George Woollcombe and step-mother Jessie, where George had accepted the position of Vicar at Woodford Halse. When they returned to Canada in 1947 they all resided at 194 Cobourg Street, Ottawa, Ontario.
Phyllis cared for George and Jessie as they aged and became infirm.
