Block 27 is a non-endowed area of a well-groomed cemetery. Most of the people buried in non-endowed areas do not have grave markers of any kind. In addition, neither they or their survivors paid or pay for the upkeep of the burial site.
There is an Annie Cole in the 1900 federal census. She was then living at 214 East Park Street in Stockton, San Joaquin County, CA. She was a servant in the home of Thomas and Ida Connelly. Annie Cole was described as being 67 years old, colored, a widow, and a native of Tennessee. She was born in June of 1833. She had not given birth to any children. (The age in the census record differs by eight years from the age in the cemetery records. There may be a lot of reasons for that, including a lack of knowledge of the true age of the deceased or it could be a different Annie Cole.)
