Donald Thomas Burleson, age 66, of Johnson City, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Don was born on April 5, 1953 in Bakersville, North Carolina to the late D. H. and Lucille Woody Burleson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Beth Burleson.

Don was co-owner of Burleson Electric Company, Inc. for close to 30 years. He continued his electrical contracting career with Nixon Power Services until the time of his death. In addition to work, Don’s favorite job was being “Poppy” to his three grandsons. He enjoyed playing ball with his grandsons, reading, and playing golf. Don was a member of Grace Freewill Baptist Church and attended Grace Fellowship Church.

He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Melissa Pursifull Burleson; his daughters Kelly Weems and husband, Doug; Megan Bryant and husband, David; his grandsons Cooper, Turner, and Mac Weems; and his godson, Kyle King. Don is also survived by his three brothers David Burleson, Mike Burleson (Brenda), and Terry Burleson (Lisa). Also left behind to cherish his memory are many nieces, nephews, relatives, and special friends.

The family will receive friends in the Sunrise Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Services on Friday, July 12, 2019 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with a memorial service immediately following. The interment will be at Monte Vista Memorial Park at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2019. David Bryant, Doug Weems, David Burleson, Mike Burleson, Terry Burleson, Josh Burleson, Logan Burleson, Matthew Burleson, and Tommy Woody will serve as pallbearers. Don’s godson, Kyle King, will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Amedysis Home Health Services and the Cardiac ICU staff at Johnson City Medical Center for the excellent care they provided to Don.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Don’s memory to the Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 21301 South Tamiami Trail, Suite 320 PMB 226, Estero, Florida 33928.
