Herman Witte, aged 76, passed away at the home of his son, William, in the Town of Schleswig near Kiel, on Tuesday after an illness of several months.
Mr. Witte was born in Mairow, Germany, on September 5, 1858, and at the age of 29 years in 1887, came to this country with his wife and located in Sheboygan. He had been married to Miss Mathilda Koehler, also of Germany, in September 1883.
In 1905, the Witte family purchased the farm now owned by the Christian Koeser family, near Millhome, where they resided for many years. His wife passed away September 7, 1913, and since her death Mr. Witte had been making his home with his son, William and family.
To the couple were born five children of whom three passed away in infancy. Surviving Mr. Witte are two sons, William near Kiel and Erich of Sheboygan; five grandchildren; and two brothers, Carl of the Town of Wilson and Gustave of Aurora, Wisconsin (sic, Illinois).
