Barbara Smith Blassingame, 86, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2019, at the Greenhouses at Traceway Manor. She was born in Moscow, Kentucky, on May 5, 1933, to Sidney and Jessie Smith. Barbara married the late James Blassingame on December 27, 1953, in Memphis, Tennessee. She worked as a legal secretary for John Ferrell, Floyd Cunningham and William Smith in Booneville, Mississippi.

She enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with her family. She was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a son, Morgan (Pam) of Tupelo; a step-daughter, Carolyn Crowe of Memphis, TN; a step-son, Ernest Blassingame of Savannah, TN; a brother Henry Smith of Fort Mill, SC; and two grandchildren, Daniel Blassingame and Alex Blassingame.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, James Sidney Blassingame; a grandson, James Edward Crowe; five sisters, Annie, Ella, Mary, Jessie and Martha; and two brothers, Sid and Stephen.

A private family graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2019,at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Booneville, Mississippi. McMillan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
