Japanese journalist, politician and educators (President of Rissho University).
He served as 55th Prime Minister of Japan, 50th Minister of Finance, 12,13,14th Minister of Trade and Industry and 9th Minister of Posts and Telecommunications.
His term of office as the Prime Minister is only 65 days, and it is the second shortest after Cabinet of Tsutomu Hata under the Japanese Constitution, and the fourth shortest in Japanese constitutional history.

Received Honorary Doctor of Laws from Waseda University.

His ashes are also shared at Kuonji Temple in Minobu Town.
