JOANNE M. ZARN
(1931 - 2006)

Joanne entered into eternal life Sunday, May 14, 2006, surrounded by her loving daughters, their significant others and her granddogs.

Joanne was born May 16, 1931 in Valders, the third child of Francis and Hazel (nee Torrison) Meany. Her first Holy Communion was received on June 3, 1945 at St. Andrew. She was a 1949 graduate of Lincoln High School and 1951 graduate of Manitowoc County Normal. She married the love of her life. Gerald E. Zarn, when he returned from Army service during the Korean War on Oct. 25. 1952 at St. Andrew Church. Joanne taught at Holmes School in the town of Gibson until she became the full-time mother of four daughters. She was active in her children's lives as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader and as an observer of their many activities. She taught CCD classes for many years at St. Andrew.

Joanne and Jerry loved their cottage at Riley's Point with their many friends. They were active in boating, bicycle riding and loving life. Joanne was an avid bowler for the Craft's Electric women's team for many years and continued to travel to the WIBC tournament through-out the country with her friends. Joanne was a member of the St. Clair Society, formerly the St. Theresa Society of St. Andrew Catholic Church for many years.

Joanne is survived by her daughters: J. Pennae (Daniel) LeClair; Jodi Marie (Steven) Croy; Julie Ann (Igor Goranovic) Lamm and Janna Lea (Tim) Kohl; her granddaughters: Claudette Joanne Zoch and Katee Marie (Brian) Schmitz; her great-granddaughters: Chloe and Carley Schmitz; her special niece: Barb Ann Walsh; and her step-grandchildren: Kathryn, Megan, and Allison LeClair. She is also survived by her sisters: Mary Weir, Jeanice (Conrad) Lerum, and her brother: Paul (Sharon) Meany, as well as many nieces and nephews. "Grandma Snowman" will be missed by many. Joanne was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband; her grandson: Justin Loch; her sister: Lois Walsh; and her brother: Claude Meany.

A Mass of Christian Burial will he held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2006, at St. Francis of Asissi on Grand Avenue, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Daniel Felton. Cremation has taken place.

The family will greet relatives and friends immediately following the Mass for a reception in the Monsignor Letz Center. There will be no visitation prior to the Mass of Christian Burial.

Memorials would he appreciated to: Friends of Mariners Trail, Box 2341, Manitowoc, WI 54220 or the Manitowoc Public Library.

The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

The family would especially like to thank Giora Katz, M.D., the staff of Manitowoc County Community Hospice, Tracey and Robin; Fr. Daniel Felton, and Oskar, her therapy dog, who provided needed comfort in her final days. A very special thank you to her daughter and son-in-law: Jodi Marie and Dr. Steven Croy who lovingly cared for and kept Joanne pain free during her brief illness.
