Leon proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. Prior to his illness, he was an avid fisherman, hunter and farmer. Most days, he could be found working in his shop or on his tractor. Leon was a self-taught engineer. When it came to pipe fitting and welding, Leon had no rivals.
He loved children and, on his Jeep that he built almost from scratch, he would go around and pick up his neighborhood kids so they could ride in his open Jeep.
Leon retired from Alpha Southwest after 32 years of outstanding service. He was the man that they would turn to when there was a problem that needed solving. Leon was a man who knew no strangers; he would offer assistance to anyone that needed it. He was a great father, brother, grandfather and friend. Leon will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Neal Morris.
Leon is survived by his loving companion, Alicia Gonzales of the home; nine children, Patrick Morris and his wife, Laura, of Los Chavez, Tina Morris of Los Lunas, Teresa Morris-Kear and her husband, Michael, of Bosque Farms, Craig and his wife, Lynell, Robert John and his wife, Renee, Dominic and his wife, Paula, Tiffany, Timmy and Thomas; one sister, Shirley Snow and her husband, Lloyd, of Clovis; 22 grandchildren, Ronaeli and Christy Mickle, Lataya Morris, Abel and Samantha Kear, Issiah Ornelas, and Israel and Dilia Morris, Mickah, Christopher, Stormy, Gabriel, Erica, Alicia, Sarah, Damon, Robert, Sabrina, Victor, Josiah, Cassidy, and Richey; one great-granddaughter, Nami Zoglio, and many friends and other relatives.
