"Died at 3:20 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the residence of her son, John Smithmyer, Twenty-fourth avenue and Sixteenth street, of diseases incident to old age. Mrs. Eichenlaub was born in Germany seventy-eight years ago. She married Nicholas Smithmyer in the fatherland. In 1869 he died, and some years later his widow was wedded to Joseph Eichenlaub, whose demise occurred in this city a few years ago. She is survived by three sons born to her first husband: Frank, George, and John Smithmyer. Deceased was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church. The funeral will leave the house at 8:30 o'clock Tuesday morning and proceed to St. Mary's church, where mass will be said. Internment in St. Mary's cemetery."
