James Leighton of the Centre Road, Mono, died after a short illness on the 16th inst., at the residence of his son-in-law, Robt. Limebeer, Erin. The remains were brought to Orangeville the following Monday and interred in the Forest Lawn cemetery, the funeral being very largely attended, the two local Orange lodges being in the cortege. The deceased was born in County Longford, Ireland, on July 12, 1836, and came to this country about forty years ago. He was twice married, first to Miss Speers, and afterward to Miss Mary Stubbs, who died last spring. The family consists of one son, Prof. Joseph Leighton of Hobart University, Utica, N.Y., Mrs. Robt. Limebeer, Erin, Mrs. (Rev.) Hoar of Alaska, Mrs. Geo. Hicks of Los Angeles, Cal., and Miss Lillian of Toronto.
