Harold J. Bloom, age 77, of Edina, died peacefully on June 11, 2006 after a year-long battle with cancer. Harry was born on October 21, 1928, in Worthington, Minnesota. He was a naval veteran of World War II, received his bachelor's degree from the University of Minnesota, and his master's degree in business from the University of Michigan. Harry worked at Piper Jaffray for thirty-five years, from 1953-1988, where he served as Chief Financial Officer and helped to grow the company into one of the largest regional brokerages in the U.S. He is remembered for his unflagging optimism, his ever-present smile, and his quick sense of humor. He was preceded in death by his son, David. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Laura, his sons, John (Barb) and Jim (Allison), daughter-in-law, Melanie and his 9 grandchildren.
