A "Minute men" company was organized at Abraham Bonnell's tavern in Clinton, New Jersey in 1767.
Abraham Bonnell served as Lieutenant Colonel, 2nd regiment, Hunterdon County, New Jersey militia, 1776. Lieutenant Colonel, Colonel Mark Thompson's Regiment, New Jersey Militia, detached for service in the Flying Camp, July 18, 1776. Commanded his regiment, Hunterdon County Militia, in service at Millstone, January 31 to March 3, 1777. Stationed at Alexandria, Hunterdon County, May 1777. June 1778, in active service for one month. In service in 1780.
