Urban G. LaFond, 70, of 1915 Jackson St., Two Rivers, died Monday night at Two Rivers Municipal Hospital following a lingering illness.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Klein and Stangel Inc., Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St. Luke Catholic Church, Two Rivers. The Rev. H.J. Schmitz will offiicate and burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Mr. LaFond was born April 24, 1894, at Two Rivers, son of the late Mitchell and Elide Fontaine LaFond. He served with the U.S. Army during World I following which he was engaged in the fishing business with his father and brother, Conrad, until 1942. He then worked at Paragon Electric co., Two Rivers, for several years and retired from Schmitt Lumber Co., Two Rivers, in 1951 because of ill health. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Holy Name Society of St. Luke Catholic Church. In 1930, he married Julia Goeler at Two Rivers. She died in 1938.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. LeRoy Bruce, of Manitowoc; three sons, Gerald, Howard and William, of Two Rivers; a brother, John, of Two Rivers; and five grandchildren. Two sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday where the Rosary will be recited at 7:45 p.m.
