Betty Lee Kerr, age 89, of The Villages, Florida, passed away on September 9, 2019 of natural causes.
She was born in Durand, Michigan on May 19, 1930. Betty graduated from the University of Michigan with a BA degree in 1952. She then went on to receive her RN from Columbia University School of Nursing in 1954. She married Rodney Beach Kerr on April 11, 1955; two years later they moved to Rochester, New York where they lived until migrating to The Villages in the mid 90's.
In the 70's, she returned to school to earn her teaching certification from SUNY Geneseo. Betty had a 20-year career in the Pittsford Central School District as a School Nurse teacher; first at Allen's Creek Elementary and later at Jefferson Road School. In retirement, she and Rod enjoyed traveling the world and later summer visits to Rochester to see family and friends. Betty also enjoyed golf, sewing, bridge, mahjong, dominoes, and phone calls with her grandchildren. At the time of her death she was a parishioner at St. Timothy Catholic Church.
Betty was predeceased by her husband, Rodney; parents, Dr. R. D. and Pearl Bissonnett Lee; brothers, Robert E. and Donald.
She is survived by her sons, Michael (Barbara), James, William, and David; grandchildren, Ryan, Michael (Christie), Stephen, Mary, Kevin, Adam, Nathan, and Heather; and great-grandchildren, Ethan and Liliana.
No services are planned at this time. A memorial service or funeral mass will be scheduled later in Rochester, New York. Interment will be at St. James Cemetery in Gouverneur, New York, likely in the spring of 2020.
