Helen's parents were Polish immigrants who arrived at Ellis Island from Villia, Poland. They settled in Connecticut. Helen grew up with her 6 siblings who worked hard on the family farm. In her last days she reminisced about her childhood, their apple orchard, picking buckets of blueberries and putting them up in mason jars for the winter.
Prior to and during WWII, Helen worked as a machinist for Pratt Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford. There she met her future husband, Charlie, while carpooling to work. They married in 1946 and settled in Norwich. Helen was a devoted wife and mother. When the children were old enough to go to school she returned to work, this time for Marty Gilman's, a small sports manufacturing firm in Gilman that was known for building practice dummies for football game tactics.
Helen's home was a gathering place for friends and family. In 1980, after the children were grown and gone, she and her husband retired to West Melbourne where they became avid golfers. They were on the course every day before the crack of dawn at both local and out-of-town courses. Helen was a pretty good golfer making 3 hole-in-one shots over the years.
She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Charles A. Dupont, and survived by her devoted and loving children, John (Gail) Dupont of Cocoa, FL; her daughter, Mary (Bob) Decelles; five grandchildren; two step grandchildren and two step great grandsons.
