Alfreda was born in Bogalusa, Louisiana to the late Carlos and Virgie (Harris) Smith, Sr. She was a long time dietetic employee of the Resthaven Nursing Home and later moved her employment to the Bogalusa Medical Center.
In 1955, she was married to Eddie (Bo) Adams in Pearl River, Mississippi. She was baptized in the White Hall Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Quinn Williams.
Mrs. Adams was very well known for her honesty, strength, and her very big heart. Mrs. Adams encouraged and cared for many in her lifetime. Even in her disabled state, her love for children was a priority.

Adams of Mamer, Luxembourg, Malcolm Adams of Bogalusa, LA, Steven (Doris) Adams, Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Christopher Adams of Atlanta, Georgia, Victor (Tina) Adams of Bogalusa, LA; five sisters, Bennie Britt of Los Angeles, CA, Donna Border of Lynn Wood, CA, Barbara Sykes of Stockton, CA , Shelia Porter of Los Angeles, CA; seventeen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
