Alfreda was born in Bogalusa, Louisiana to the late Carlos and Virgie (Harris) Smith, Sr. She was a long time dietetic employee of the Resthaven Nursing Home and later moved her employment to the Bogalusa Medical Center.

In 1955, she was married to Eddie (Bo) Adams in Pearl River, Mississippi. She was baptized in the White Hall Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Quinn Williams.

Mrs. Adams was very well known for her honesty, strength, and her very big heart. Mrs. Adams encouraged and cared for many in her lifetime. Even in her disabled state, her love for children was a priority.

Mrs. Adams leaves to mourn, two daughter, Ms. Lisa Elzey of Las Vegas, Nevada and Ms. Virgie Moses of Bogalusa, LA; six sons, Mr. Eddie (Rose) Adams of Bogalusa, LA, Daren L. Adams of Mamer, Luxembourg, Malcolm Adams of Bogalusa, LA, Steven (Doris) Adams, Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Christopher Adams of Atlanta, Georgia, Victor (Tina) Adams of Bogalusa, LA; five sisters, Bennie Britt of Los Angeles, CA, Donna Border of Lynn Wood, CA, Barbara Sykes of Stockton, CA , Shelia Porter of Los Angeles, CA; seventeen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are her mother and father; two sons, Mr. Bobby Adams and Mr. Freddie Lee Adams; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Sondra (Newman) Adams; one son-in-law, Rev. Coleman Moses; one sister, Ms. Sharon Smith; and one brother, Mr. Carlos Smith II.
