Colleen Taylor Farmer died July 4, 2007 at her home in Milledgeville after battling lung cancer. Mrs. Farmer was born on June 20, 1947 in Newnan, Georgia to Gilbert Barron Taylor and the late Ellajo Hyde Taylor. She was a graduate of Newnan High School (1965), Georgia College (BMEd 1969; BM 1996) and the University of Georgia (MEd 1974).

Mrs. Farmer was married to John Thomas Farmer on August 2, 1969. She worked as a special education and music teacher in the Baldwin County Public School System and as a teacher and activity therapist at Central State Hospital. She also taught private piano lessons to numerous students. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Milledgeville, where she served as church pianist and sang in the Chancel Choir.

Mrs. Farmer is survived by her husband John Farmer; her father Gilbert Taylor of Newnan; her sister Joan Gladney and husband Bill of Middleburg, FL; her son Rhett Farmer and wife Joyce of Macon; her son Judd Farmer and fiancée Erica Ploof of Atlanta; her daughter Joy Grese and husband Frank of Bryn Mawr, PA; her grandchildren, Matthew Farmer and Sara Rhett Farmer; and six nieces and three nephews.
