ANDREW BALKO CALLED BY DEATH
Aged Coal Miner Passes Away This Morning--Had Been Sick All Winter.
Andrew Balko, a pioneer resident of this city died this morning at 9:30 after suffering all during the winter from a complication of diseases, and old age.
Decedent was born in Austria, July 1, 1852 and came to this country many years ago. He was united in marriage thirty years ago next July to Miss Elizabeth Washko. Four children were born to this union and they with the widow are left to mourn his death. The children are Mrs. Guss Hillger of this city, Andrew and John Balko of Clinton, Indiana, and Mrs. Michael Harcharic of Standard, Illinois. The time of the funeral has not been set but it will be held from St. Stephen's church and interment will take place in St. Stephen's, cemetery. Up to the last few years the deceased was employed as miner and is well known among the miners of the community.

Date on stone is incorrect. Date of Death April 10, 1920, not 1919. The LaSalle Co. online Genealogy Guild and his obituary support the 1920 date.
