Joel Harrison Little was the son of Ellen Rowena Cagle Little (1889-1976) and Dorsey James Little (1885-1965).
Grandson of Mary Bell Cagle & Dr. David Cagle and Mary Jane Steward Little & John Little.
Brothers and Sisters, Carl Little (1908), Mary Alice Little Cates (1909), Ida Rowena Little Bass (1911), Johnnie Paul Little (1913), David Dorsey Little (1915), Silas R. Little (1920), Elsie Amelia Little Parnell (1922), Ruth Rebecca Little Bass (1924), Ruby Rachel Little Buchanan (1924), and Samuel Buford Little (1928).
Joel was inducted into the United States Army on November 26,1941, eleven days before the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. After one year of basic training, Joel was sent overseas where he served for three years in the 2nd Armored Division-Field Artillery-under the command of General George S. Patton in the European Theater of Operation, having fought on the front lines in the "Battle of the Bulge". He received an honorable discharge in October of 1945.
On April 14, 1946, Joel married Sadie Louise Parnell. They made their home in Waverly, and to this union a daughter was born Linda Faye on January 19, 1947.
Joel was employed for twenty-eight years with TVA-New Johnsonville Steam Plant in the Maintenance Department.
