Mamaroneck - Amelia Paonessa (nee Insardi) passed away on October 28, 2019. She was born in Mamaroneck in 1925, the daughter of, Ernest and Brigid Insardi. Amelia graduated from Mamaroneck High School in 1944. She held a job as a comptometer operator and typist while she was waiting for her ASCAP in New York City. She worked for six years until she married in 1949. After raising her children, she went back to the work force in October of 1965 as a clerical worker for Robinson Wagner Chemical Co. where she worked for 32 years before retiring in 1997. After her retirement she returned to work once again in 1998, as a librarian for the Phillip Morris Co. She later worked in their Tax Department in Rye and then commuted by train for two more years when they moved to NYC. She was an active participant of St. Vito's Parish where she was a member of the St. Ann's Guild, the Parish Council, and the Choir. She worked at Bingo night and also at the annual parish Festa for many years. At the Festa, Amelia could be found in the casino running the poker table with her husband Frank. She was a Eucharistic minister and assisted the ladies of the Altar Guild taking care of the Sanctuary and sacristy for over 30 years keeping God's house in order. Amelia married Frank A. Paonessa on September 6, 1949, he predeceased her on February 24, 1989. She is survived by three children; George (Beverly Spinelli), Suzanne Chmelecki, and David, and grandchildren; Lisa, Amy, Adam (Carolina), Noelle Chmelecki, Lauren (Greg Cuddy), Mark (Stephani Paonessa) and great-grandchildren; Silas, Amelia, Veronica Ryan, and is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings; Antoinette DiBuono, Assunta, Albino, Albert Insardi and Susan Congdon. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday 10am at St. Vito's-Most Holy Trinity R.C. Church followed by interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Amelia's memory to the Parkinson's Foundation.
