Joan Baldwin Harvey, 82, of Litchfield, Connecticut died on August 30, 2013 after a lengthy illness.
Daughter of the late Robert and Dorothy Simmons Baldwin of Bridgeport, Connecticut, she and her husband Henry Hamilton Harvey lived at Brandywine Assisted Living where Henry still resides.Her daughter Susan Harvey Devine and brothers Reverend Charles Baldwin and Robert Baldwin predeceased Joan.
She graduated from Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing in 1952 and received a Bachelor of Science from Quinnipiac College in 1982.
She was an Operating Room nurse for several years at Yale New Haven Hospital and then was appointed the Clinical Coordinator of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Yale University.
Living most of her life in Connecticut, she spent many happy times in Litchfield and at the family cabin at Mt. Tom Pond in Morris, Connecticut where she loved to entertain with family and friends.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her sons Richard and Charles and their spouses, her son-in-law Chris Devine, three granddaughters and three great grandchildren.
Service will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to White Memorial Conservation Center, PO Box 368, Litchfield, CT, 06759.
