Catherine "Kate" (Wallace) Hornal was born on August 22, 1875 in Scotland, the daughter of Finley Wallace (1839–1910) and Ann (Scott) Wallace.
She was married about 1894 to Colin Park Hornal (1865-1937), and he was the son of Robert Hornal (ca 1824- ) and Isabelle (Wallace) Hornal (ca 1826- ).
A naturalized citizen and living at 3711-B Charlotte Avenue in Nashville, Tennessee, Kate was 81 years old, a widow and diabetic when she died at home of a cerebral hemorrhage on October 21, 1956. Burial was two days later in Spring Hill Cemetery, Nashville.
