Born on January 28, 1934 at Abraham, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Howard Bennett (1889-1971) and Cora "Alice" Plumley-Bennett (1890-1963). In addition to her parents, Mrs. Adkins was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Carlos Adkins (1929-2018) whom she married on September 3, 1948 in Beckley, Raleigh County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Raleigh County, WV, 1948, Page 248, Application Date: August 31, 1948); brothers, Howard Bennett (Deceased), Clarence Bennett (Deceased), and Charlie Bennett (Deceased); four sisters, Nannie Elizabeth Bennett-Hunt (1915-2012), Stella Bennett-Rouse (1921-1973), Cora "Della" Bennett-Todd (1924-2008), and Marie Lola Bennett-Adkins (1917-1978). She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Those survivors left to cherish her memory include her children, Alice Adkins-Altice & husband Gary Altice of Ghent, Lowell “Shotgun” Adkins & wife Linda Adkins of Daniels, and Daris Adkins & wife Shelby Adkins of Cool Ridge, WV; seven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; and a special CNA at Pine Lodge, Cindra Siegler.
Funeral services will be conducted at Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at noon with Rev. Orville Setliff and Rev. John Wesley Richmond officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, WV.∼On behalf of the staff at Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Homes, we are honored to be serving the Adkins family, but saddened to announce the passing of Ms. Sarah Adkins.
