John Cabot (Jan. 14, 1745-Aug. 28, 1821), was the son of Joseph Cabot (1720-1767) and Elizabeth Higginson of Salem, MA. He m. Hannah Dodge, (1758-1830), dau. of Capt. George Alfred Dodge (1726-1808, son of Dea. Joshua Dodge, Jr. (1694-1771/2 and Hannah Rayment aka Raymond) and Lydia Herrick (1726-1798, dau. of Benjamin Herrick and Lydia Hayward).

He and his brother Andrew Cabot, bro.-in-law, Francis Cabot Lowell, and George Cabot built the first cotton mill to use the water-powered method. It was the Beverly Cotton Manufactory, built in North Beverly, MA.
