Mary Frances Reynolds was born on July 27, 1921, in East Chicago, Indiana. She was the daughter of Frank and Helen Duffy Reynolds.

Her father was a superintendent in the steel industry, while her mother was a housewife. Mary was the second-born. She had two sisters Nadyne and Terese; and one brother Frank J. Jr.

Mary Reynolds became a nurse. In the 1940 Federal census, Mary F. Reynolds, aged 18, was listed as a student at the St. Francis Hospital, Evanston, Illinois. There was a two and three year school of nursing at this hospital until it closed in 1998.

On October 30, 1943, Mary Frances Reynolds and Franklin Peirce Kilpatrick were married in Indiana. He was the son of Dr Wilbur and Alberta Kilpatrick, of Seattle, Washington.

They had one son and three daughters.

Her husband, Dr Franklin Kilpatrick died on June 29, 1978, in Jacksonville, Florida.

Mary F. Kilpatrick passed away on October 9, 1991, at her home in Crown Point, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her husband Franklin, and her brother Frank Reynolds.

She was survived by her son and daughter-in-law of Florida; one daughter of Maryland; another daughter and son-in-law of Washington; and a third daughter and husband of Florida; as well as ten grandchildren. Her two sisters, Terese (William) Thanholt and Nadine Knight of Wisconsin also survived.

Funeral services were held on October 12, 1991, at 9:00 am at Geisen Funeral Home, and Mass at 9:30 am at St Matthias Church in Crown Point. Burial at Mount Mercy Cemetery.
