Mrs. Cecil Gist Froman passed away at 9:00 in the morning at her home near Bainbridge MO, where she had lived for nearly 60 years. She had been in feeble health for many years and for several months had not been able to leave her bed. She was the widow of Judge Lorenzo J Froman, who died in 1877.

She was born in Kentucky To William and Margaret Tennill Gist. She moved with her brothers, Joseph and Samuel, and sister, Elizabeth, to Clinton County MO sometime around 1829.

Cecil and Lorenzo had 10 children, according to her obituary, 2 of whom predeceased her. There children are:
- Elizabeth Froman (1832-1848), married Edward Clark
- Abraham Froman (1834-1914), married Eleanor Fry
- Samuel M Froman (1836-1909), married Arthusa Froman
- William Gist Froman (1839-1917), married Mary Sherard & Louisa Mae Higgins
- Evalina Froman (1841-1893)
- Mary Jane Froman (1844-??), married John Froman
- Sarah Catherine Froman (1846-1878)
- Nancy Margaret Froman (1848-1890), married Thomas Letcher Gaunt
- James A Froman (1850-1944), married Ella Adkins
- One other unknown child
