Harrel Franklin Braddy, was a violent career criminal who was twice convicted of attempted murder. He was out of prison because of an "early release" program. None of this was known to Shandelle Maycock who met Braddy at a Church function. Braddy befriended Quatisha's mother and became violent when Shandelle rebuffed his advances. He kidnapped them and viciously beat and choked Shandelle and left her for dead. He drove off with Quatisha. Her body was later found floating in a canal with her arm missing and alligator bites to her head. Shandelle survived. Braddy was indicted for Quatisha's murder and for the attempted murder of Shandelle.
